7 Easy Steps to Maintain Your Ceramic Coating

  1. Inspect the vehicle for any dirt, grime or contaminants, take note of certain areas that need extra attention like bird droppings or tree sap.
  2. Using an electric pressure washer (up to 2100psi), pre-rinse the entire vehicle all around the best you can and remove any major dirt or debris along the way.
  3. Attach your foam cannon to the pressure washer gun and start by shotting your vehicle with the recommended pink soap.
  4. Use the recommended wash mitts to hand wash the entire vehicle in circular motions.
  5. Next, rinse down the soap residue and then work your way around the vehicle.
  6. After the vehicle is completely rinsed off and all the soap is washed off, use a recommended car air dryer or leaf blower to dry the entire vehicle.
  7. Finally, Use our recommended Ceramic Detail Spray across all panels of the vehicle. This crucial final step does two things, it helps remove any remaining water spots after drying the vehicle and adds an extra layer of protection on your ceramic coated paint.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is ceramic coating and why is it important?

Ceramic coating is a long-lasting protective layer that bonds with your vehicle’s paint. It offers superior protection from contaminants like dirt, bird droppings, and UV rays while giving your car a sleek, glossy finish. If you’ve never had a ceramic coating, it makes washing and maintaining your vehicle much easier and faster.

2. How should I prepare my car before hiring us?

There is nothing that you have to do to your vehicle before we arrive. You don't have to take it to a car wash or anything. Our team will take necessary steps which include a hand wash, synthetic clay bar application, iron remover for proper decontamination then a 2-step compound and polish to prep each panel for the application of the 10 Year ceramic coating.

3. When can I drive my car after applying ceramic coating?

You can safely drive your car one hour after application, even if it rains. Our coatings are designed to handle the elements immediately, so there’s no need to wait days before using your vehicle.

4. How long should I wait to wash my car after applying ceramic coating?

It’s best to wait at least one week to ten days before washing or using any chemicals, such as soap, on your car to allow the coating to fully cure. If necessary, you can wash sooner using a gentle rinseless wash, but avoid using a pressure washer or aggressive scrubbing during this time.

5. Can I apply a Topper or ceramic gloss immediately after applying the coating?

No, applying a Topper too soon after the ceramic coating can damage it by disrupting the curing process. Wait at least a week before applying any Topper, such as ceramic gloss or Quick Beads.

6. What temperature is ideal for applying ceramic coating?

The ideal temperature range for applying ceramic coating is between 50°F and 100°F (10°C to 35°C). When we are applying outdoors, we ensure no rain is expected for at least an hour after application to give the coating time to cure.

7. How often should I decontaminate my ceramic-coated car?

With a ceramic coating, you’ll need to decontaminate less often, if ever. When the coating feels less slick or the water isn’t beading properly, it’s time for a decontamination using a synthetic decontamination towel with proper soap lubrication. This process should be done by a professional.

8. Can I use a clay bar on my ceramic-coated car?

It’s not recommended to use a traditional clay bar on a ceramic-coated car, as it may scratch the surface. Instead, use a perforated synthetic decontamination towel with proper lubrication to safely remove contaminants without damaging the coating. Think of it like sandpaper.

9. Can I take my ceramic-coated car through a car wash?

Of course you can, but it’s not ideal. Touch-free car washes use harsh chemicals that can affect parts of your vehicle that aren’t ceramic-coated, and brush-type washes can scratch the coating. If possible, stick to hand washing or hire a professional detailer. If you must use a car wash, it will reduce the lifespan of the ceramic coating from 10 years to around 6-7 years.

10. Does ceramic coating require special maintenance?

No special maintenance is required, but it’s important to use proper washing techniques and products. Every few years, consider performing a deeper decontamination to keep the coating performing like new. Please click on our Post Treatment Link for more information.
